Food Services For School District

There is not much to look forward to during the school day. After all, for the most part it is just studying and busywork. Obviously we have friends we see throughout the day that makes days fun, but the fleeting moments in hallways could never outweigh the drollness of the classroom. Thankfully, lunch period offers some respite, giving students the chance to socialize and recharge their battery for the rest of the day.

While the importance of science and history can never be highlighted enough, lunch may be the most important period of the day. It offers a reset for rougher days, but can also double as a small reward for tough mornings. School lunch, known for it's mediocre food and lackluster variety of options, is important not so much for the food itself but primarily for the positivity that can come from it. It gives kids the opportunity to catch up with friends without the pressures of class bells or the stress of assignments. Free of teacher's ears, kids can be themselves for the twenty minutes they have, laughing and letting out the pent up energy from the morning. More often than not, lunch gives kids an energy boost, helping them focus on finishing up the rest of the day and  truly focus on the lessons being taught after lunch.

To maintain that level of energy, kids do need nutrients, and although school lunch in the past has been mediocre, Canton Public School District in Mississippi wants to change that. They are seeking bids from qualified vendors to provide food services for the school district, hoping to feed thousands of kids with delicious and nutritious meals. By doing so, they would be taking steps to further their kid's educational careers, especially since helping to feed kids is giving them some of the necessary tools to keep them in school and do the best they can on assignments and tests. Every child deserves to eat, and when they are putting the work in the classroom the least we can do is give them the fuel to keep going.
